Or maybe if they would stop paying $50 at the hair salon, $150 for a mani/pedi and buying a new cellphone every two months they would have more money. It's not how much you earn, it's how much you spend that makes you poor.

Could not have said it better myself!!

Nice opinions by everyone. But... who cares what you are riding as long as you are riding. Harley's, Victory's Yamaha's, Honda's I ride with them all and I don't care. We all just want the ride.

Me personally, I ride a Harley because of the Harley sound, everyone tries to imitate it and they get close but never close enough. Weird thing about the sound, every notice no matter what kind of pipes you put on they all basically have that Harley rumble? OR is just me :-)

You mentioned the ergomomics, maint.,handling, top end power.I'd throw in suspension, lighting and $5500 < than the Limited.Another big + with the Vision are heat issues or lack thereof in 100+ deg. heat.No pinging or power loss whatsover all with,ac,exhaust,stage1 remap @ 90 +hp/105 ft. lbs. It does get a little sweaty but no 2nd deg. burns behind the fairing, hence the lower air deflectors. No need for heat management, the 106 runs surprisingly cool.As a side note I just got back from a weekend trip up to Yellowstone. @ the top of South Pass 8600' by my GPS I opened it up a little on a straightaway 110 mph no problem. Resale on a Harley isn't what it used to be:

Traded an '07 RKC I owned 18 mos. 21k mi.$18.6K + acc. $11.5K on trade.
Traded an '08 EGC I owned 24 mos. 26k mi $20.4K + acc. $13.5K on trade
Traded a '10 FLHTK I owned for 16 mos. 26k mi. $25.5k + acc. $20.08K on trade

Dealer networks, they're there when I need them $425 out of pocket for 2 services done on the road in 13,600 mi.The 2 techs. that have touched the bike were as savy as any I've dealt with,Harley incl.

Accessories, granted not a whole lot out there but other than the exhaust,ac,remap, tour pack rack, lower air deflectors and back rest there's not much else needed.

LoL, as far as the BOZO inuendos, with all the pluses this bike offers I can live with a little humiliation. No one's asked me to park on the other side of the street yet.

You're confusing "re-sale" with trade in value. These 2 ARE NOT the same. I bet the dealer got over much more than 11.5k for example.

Resale is price SOLD at.

My best friend rode Harleys his entire life....also on the MC Squad in Jersey City NJ for years....A harley guy up until he pulled up in 2010 on a WING.
He's not sorry. He loves it......

So it's all about what you want.....

I test rode the victory tourer and it is no doubt a fine motorcycle. However by the end of the ride I had made a decision from the heart. My 2003 FLH classic has more heart and soul in the handle bars than that whole bike had in total. I would not have traded even for the victory and with respect toward the salesman I told him my opinion. He responded back with the same respect and I rode my harley back home with a smile. Do what you feels best for you and ride on.

I think the pipes are about the only good looking thing on that bike. Other than that it looks like you'ld be riding a plastic suit case down the road..

I don't give a rat's **** what anyone else rides - but I do care that they come on to a Harley forum to brag about how much better their bike is than our's.

Why? I hate to say it, but in SOME ways, it is a better bike. In others, no. IMHO. Do the endless and countless pages on this forum of HD owners bitching about one thing or another regarding there Harley set you off as well?

The OP wanted opinions. Good and Bad. Sure, he could go to a Victory forum and get nothing but sunshine blown up his butt, but maybe he wanted opinions from former/current Harley Riders that did what he was considering. Is that so wrong?

Its sad so many people are so uptight about their Harley that they cant even tolerate discussion about any other bike.

I love mine. I contemplated exactly what the OP was contemplating, and decided against it, for various reasons. So I guess I should be burned at the stake for even THINKING about another bike.

People need to lighten up. Its a MOTORCYCLE for gods sake. I like them all. I wont OWN most of them, but Ill look at them, test ride them, and consider them. When one comes along I like better overall than my Harley, I might switch. Or I might not. I ride the machine, not the nameplate. So far Harley has been hands down my favorite, all things considered. Doesn't mean we cant Look and talk about other bikes. It beats reading the same damn **** over and over every day on this forum.

Road Glide vs Ultra
Which seat is best
which cams are best
which oil is best
dealers suck

ad nausuem. Same ****, every day. Thread after thread. At least an occasional Victory/Goldwing/BMW thread brings something NEW to talk about once in a while.

I couldn't care less what people ride...but for me it's Harley. The main reason is the motor. After all, it's called the motor company. The motor is the jewel of the bike.

Having said that, if Harley did not exist my second choice would be BMW...probably their big adventure bike.

Ride what you want and enjoy the miles. I love the Harley brand but in the end it's about the riding.

I tell you what - go over to the Victory site and brag about your Harley. Then come back here and let us all know what reception you get.
