Ok i had some codes thrown after a handlebar update P1510 and P2138 TGS correlation error. I understand the 1510 but not fully understanding the correlation error.
I have taken the TGS out again and have measured the "green" connector and it appears to be good connections. I have also measured the two groups of 3 wires. It would appear to be like a variable resistor with the total resistance of 6K ohms and the wiper at one end measuring hi at 6K and low at 179 Ohms. Both sections of the TGS read very close to the same.
While measuring the TGS i tried rotating the end to see if the resistance changed but no it stayed the same 170 or 6K
Im electronics by trade and want to know if these TGS's are actually resistive or some other form of device like magnetic?
Any other electronic guru's out there care to answer please?
they are two opposing vairable resistors - I don't recall the exact numbers but it goes something like this - say one is zero to 5v with increasing throttle the other is 5 to 0v with increasing throttle. If the two don't add up to 5v you get a correlation error.
Ok that makes good sense thank you. One problem... if they are variable resistors they are not turning!. But if you start bike the throttle works to a degree. they must be hall effect devices working on magnetic changes.
Think i will delete the "green" connector and try again may be a poor connection under load is causing the correlation error.
Interesting they would only run two sensors (if thats the case). Cars with drive by wire use 3 variable resistors with increasing and decreasing values to be redundant and will still work but set a code if one resistor goes off-line.
I went through this a number of yrs ago and if my memory serves me correctly,you could measure the increase/decrease of voltage at the back of the connector at the throttle body.

Or, if you have a Power Vision, you can read the voltages on one of the screens.

Nigel, can you tell me if you had to replace your TGS. I have a 2014 Ultra Limited and I'm having the same problem, I replaced my bars with some 13" ones and no throttle response limp mode same error codes as you. Did a resistance test 6k across 1&3, 4&6 and 170 ohms across 2&3, 5&6, and 6k across 1&2, 4&5. I even cut off the green plug and soldered & heat shranked the leads but no go same reading. However I did find a posting of a resistance test in a 99497-11 electrical manaual and it state if you have more than a 100 ohms across 1&3, 4&6 replace the TGS, so I'm going to order a new TGS. Is this what you had to do too resolve the error code problem.
